How to start organizing

I have been extremely into organizing since I was a kids, my mother said everything always had a place in my room, my bed was always neat and tidy. If someone came into my room and touch my nicely organized things I would get upset. But once you become a wife and have children that all changes. I don't always keep up with organizing, sometimes I get to busy with other things, or I get tired and let it go. I want my blogs to not only inspire others, but remind me also.

My best advice is to make a list. Walk around your house and write down all of areas in your home you would love to organize. If you feel like you need to organize everything in you home, just start with one room at a time and write down what exactly needs to be organized within that room. Now be specific, for example: If you started with the bathroom, write things down like: magazine holder, under the sink, etc.

This is an example of one of my "To Organize" List:

I always have a "to organize" list as long as I can remember. If its not an "to organize" list its a "to do" or a "to clean" list. =0  Once you have a list, , pick one area or spots you want to work on each day or night.   Even if you only have 10-15 minutes, its a start. I love the motto: "Something is always better than nothing" Turn on some music to get you going ( that always helps me) and just start it already.

All it takes is cleaning out ONE thing (a drawer, a closet) and you will feel like you just concerned something out of this world. Every time you open that drawer or closet you will be so happy with what you have achieved. Second piece of advise is to start small and before you know it, you'll be a pro!

It only took one thing for me this week to make my week productive and now I can't stop!

Pinterest is full of great organizing inspiration, but you need to be cautious. Sometimes it's so easy to spend all of your free time looking at blogs, Pinterest, and magazines for inspiration instead of just jumping in and doing the work.  (I know I'm guilty of this!)

So here is your homework: Read my tips for getting and staying organized and start with #1 - make a list.  The next step is to clean out and organize just one small space on that list.  Then check it off and you are one step closer to an organized home.

Take Before and After pictures and let me know it all goes.

If you have any questions let me know,

Happy Organizing

Brianna

P.S. No one is perfect, including me, don't feel stressed. Start small and work your way up! Because hey you can old go up from here ;)

Organize & Design On A Dime

Most people think that you need to have a lot of money in order to get organized.

But that is not neccessarily true, most of my organization tools are either from the dollar tree or the 99 cent store.

There are amazing organization products that i have bought from the Dollar Tree especially.

Here is a couple of things I use around my house:

In my Laundry Room I have extra cleaning supplies

I have extra cleaning supplies in this bucket that I got at the dollar store about 2 years ago.

This makes it so much easier to reach items that are to high, you can just pull the entire bucket down using the handle, grab what you want, then easily put it back.

Under my sink bucket

I use another bucket that is exactly the same as the one I use in my laundry room under my sink.

Again this make it so much easier for me to reach down, grab the entire bucket, get what I need to do my hair or makeup, and simply put it right back without bending down and reaching for things that are all the way in the back or have rolled somewhere.

Dollar Tree shoe box

If you have kids or even if you have small items that you want to put in your drawer, this is the item for you.

Its a simple 99 cent store shoe box, it does come with a plastic lid, but I didn't use the lid in this case, because I used this box for my kids socks. I always found it annoying when I go to open up their drawer and I can't find their socks because their under all there clothes.

So now I don't have to go searching for a pair of socks especially when I am in a hurry, this just makes it so much more simple and easy.

Somethings I have done around my house for design are also mainly from the dollar tree.

Book Craft

This craft is absolutely free and it looks beautiful on a mantel or a book shelf.
Take any old chapter book you don't want, had already read or bought a random book from the dollar tree  and follow these steps.
Take the cover, back, and spine off.
Fold each page in half and hold it with the other hand until all the pages are folded.
Then your done. And it look geougous

Hurricane Vase

This is really easy and everything you see here is from the dollar tree. Therefore, each hurricane was 3 dollars. A candle holder, a vase, and a candle, they have different color candles as well.
You can also add sand, lentils, rocks, coffee beans, or my favorite holiday colors such as candy corn for fall or halloween, or candy cane mints for christmas.

Another hurricane vase

Same thing applies to these. The first one I made once again from the dollar tree. But I put sea shells in there and put it in my ocean themed bathroom. They would also make great center pieces for a party.

The last oneI love, you can put these in the bathroom for Q-tips or cotton balls, or I love to use these for makeup brushes and just put rocks at the bottom.

I really hope these tips will motivate you to either get organized on a dime or just add a little touch to your home that you have been missing.

If you have any questions or advice let me know.

Happy organizing

Brianna

Getting Laundry Done Just A Little Bit Faster!

Personally,

I don't mind doing laundry. To me, it is relaxing and I truly get into deep thoughts as I am putting dirty laundry into the washer.

The only thing I can't stand is the fact that we live in a two story house, so I have to carry thing up and down the stairs.

Some tips I have learned over the 1 1/2 that we have lived in this house, may also benefit you.
So I thought I would share them.

1. I don’t have a specific laundry day.

It has never worked for me, and I also find that it takes more energy, both physically and electrically.

2. When your upstairs at some point during the day look around at each rooms laundry bin

Carter's room Laundry Bin

3. Get out each laundry net from every room.
Grab out all the nets from each basket with dirty clothes

4. Throw all the dirty laundry clothes in their nets from upstairs to downstairs.
Some people carry them, but they are to heavy for me.  Just make sure there are no kids around when your doing so =)
Throw laundry downstairs

5. Bring all the nets to the laundry room and place each clothes in asigned laundry basket downstairs.
For examples: The Big laundry basket is for Mommy's and Daddy's  clothes, and the little laundry basket is for both Ayden and Carter’s clothes.
Place Dirty Laundry in designated basket

6. Place all the nets into your “Catchall” basket.
( This is a term I have made up, which means, it is all the items that either need to go upstairs or that need to go downstairs, depending on where the basket is.)
Place Net is a "catchall" Basket

7. Wash your laundry like you normally do.
I personally have to do at least one load of laundry a day to keep up with it, otherwise I get super behind.
8. Once ready to pull out laundry from the dryer, start folding and put them on their hangers right away.
Fold and Hang everything as it comes out of the dryer.

9. Place folded basket on the stairs and the next time someone goes upstairs, they bring the basket into the designated room and put them away. Simple right?
Place Basket on Stairs

This is something that has worked for me.

I have noticed that if I put all the clean clothes in a basket unfolded, then they are pretty much just going to sit in the basket all week. Then it becomes very confusing and unorganized.

Normally if I keep up with this everyday, I never get behind in laundry and have a happy family.
Clean Laundry Room!

Once my boys get bigger, I want to have specific baskets for each member of the family. And once their laundry is done it will be apart of their choir to go and check their basket everyday and take their own basket upstairs, put them away, and bring the basket back downstairs.

If you have any questions or advice, just let me know. ;)

Happy organizing
Have a great week,

The Key To A Great Weekend

One of the biggest things I've learned over the last 3 years, is to wash all the dishes in the sink before bed.

It just makes for a more relaxing and calm breakfast in the morning( which is a great way to start a productive day and enjoy the rest of the weekend.)

Especially with kids, this makes my weekends and morning much more enjoyable. I hate when I have to wake up and do the dishes before I even start breakfast.

This just makes me frustrated in the morning , Aydens pulling on my leg while Carter is crying in the high chair, both waiting for their breakfast and I have to wash all the dishes.

Rather than, waking up, walking downstairs, and starting breakfast. Then after breakfast throwing everything in the dish washer.

Starts a very productive day and a enjoyable weekend.
Just a quick tip I wanted to share before bed.

Until Next time

Goodnight friends

Mac and Cheese, apples and Mickey Mouse

One of my favorite lunches of the week is Mac and cheese and apples while the kids watch Mickey Mouse Club House.

I love seeing Carter siting in his high chair waving his hand up and down while he is grinning from ear to ear with a mouth full of mac and cheese just makes my day,
Even if I am stressed, behind on laundry, or trying to pay bills.
I love this 30 minutes of lunch time before nap.

Ayden half way through his little bowl of mac and cheese says "Apple Juice please"
His favorite part after lunch is that he gets to put his bowl in the sink all by himself.

Once sticky hand and sticky floors are all cleaned up, is usually nap time, which means mommy gets to sit in front of her computer for about 30 minutes.

Its just another moment that makes my heart sing for joy.
Proud mommy!

Until next time
Goodbye friends,

A night like Tonight.

Some people have asked me, "Don't you get bored not working and being at home all day"?

I reply "No, everyday is a new adventure and I love what I do, and being a mother and homemaker is a job in itself"

Like tonight, once that clock hits 4' o'clock, knowing that I need to start preparing for dinner, washing the kids up, putting up my hair, and waiting for the husband to come home is the best feeling.

Everyday is something new. I love the smell of holiday candles and dinner in the oven, while the music is playing low, the kids playing in the back ground, and the sound of the door opening with little voices saying "daddy, daddy's home."

Nights like tonight re sure me that this is what I was suppose to do in life. I was suppose to be a mom and a homemaker.

I look forward to when my husband walks through that door and gives me a kiss.

I love the simple things, even if it mean we get a pizza and watch a movie.

Tonight was spaghetti with sausage, and bell pepper onions in the sauce. Cleaned up from dinner, gave the kids a bath, brushed teeth and tucked them in their beds.

Its when the kids are in bed and the house is quiet, is when I really sit back and appreciate everything in my life.

Until Tomorrow
Goodnight Friends,

Brianna

Dear Ayden and Carter

I'm Brianna and I absolutely love what I do...being a mother and homemaker that is.
I have 2 little guys that keep me on my toes at all times...I also have one big guy. We met when we were only 15 year old, and we haven’t been apart since.

Our wedding was September 16th, 2012, and it was everything I could have ever dreamed of.
I'm a loving, cheerful wife and mother who want nothing more then to wake up everyday right where I am now.
I couldn’t ask for me life to be any differently.

I have dedicated my blog is not only to help other mom's, but also so that my boys can look back and see all the memories I blogged about.

So this is my Family.

My loving Husband Javier on the left, Carter, Ayden, then Me.

Where to begin:

I was 15 years and a sophmore in high school where I met Javier. He graduated a year before me, where he entered the work field and college.
I on the other hand was still finishing High school. Once I graduated, I started Community college where I originally wanted to go for Nursing.
I was also working as a Medical Assistant.
I found out I was pregnant about 4 months after I graduated from high school. Right then and there we knew we were going to start our lives together.

We moved out of our parents house January 2010 into an apartment where we both continued to work and go to school.
Javier proposed to me April 2, 2010 and we found out we were having a boy the next day.
I gave birth to Ayden August 12, 2010, 9 pounds 1 ounce & 19 1/2 inches long. It was love at first sight.

We continued to live in our apartment for a couple of months when we realized that we need to think about buying a home.

We searched for a home for about 4 or 5 months and finally found the right one.

Right before we moved in June 2011 I found out I was pregnant with our second.
At first I was disappointment, but then I realized this is the life I have been dreaming about since I was a little girl.

  1. A stay a home mom.
  2. 2 boys
  3. & have a loving fiance.
We closed the house on my 20th birthday July 15, 2011

I gave birth to Carter February 11, 2012, 8 pounds 2 ounces and 18 inches long.
After Carter was born is when we decided to finally set a date for our wedding.

We decided on September 16th, 2012.
The wedding came and went faster than anything,
I lived and breathed wedding for 6 months and then as soon as the day comes and everything goes perfectly, it just went to fast...just sayin.

So now that our live is pretty much set, I want to share our journey with everyone.

Until tomorrow,
Goodbye Friends,

Brianna
